The invention relates to a clamping device for reducing the number of parts of a cargo detection unit. In a stacking device (31), a tire (T) is placed on a conveyance surface (5a). The first clamping part (33a) and the second clamping part (33b) clamp the side surface of the tire (T) placed on the conveying surface (5a), and each of the first clamping part (33a) and the second clamping part (33b) is provided with an abutting surface (33a1, 33b1) which comprises a bent part and can abut against the side surface of the tire (T). The first sensor (73a) and the second sensor (73b) have an optical axis in a direction traversing the bending portion and along the cargo. The controller (50) moves the first clamping part (33a) and the second clamping part (33b) so as to approach a first position at which the tire is not clamped, and when the tire is detected by the first sensor (73a) and the second sensor (73b), moves the first clamping part and the second clamping part so as to approach each other to a second position at which the tire is clamped and moved.
