The invention relates to a method for decelerating a single-track motor vehicle, comprising the following steps: a) determining a total torque (GM) of wheels (12) of the motor vehicle required for a desired driving maneuver by means of a control unit (22) of the motor vehicle; b) ascertaining a brake partial torque (B) and an engine partial torque (M) by the control unit (22) as a function of the required total torque (GM); and c) generating a brake partial torque (B) on the wheels (12) by actuating a brake system of the motor vehicle by the control unit (22), and generating an engine partial torque (M) on the wheels (12) by actuating an engine of the motor vehicle by the control unit (22). The invention further discloses a single-track motor vehicle.
