Provided are an object detection device and a moving object control device that can detect an abnormality using a non-directional component of ultrasonic waves. This object detection device is provided with: a signal transmission/reception unit that transmits a transmission wave including an ultrasonic wave having directivity in a direction parallel or substantially parallel to the traveling direction of a moving body, and receives a reflected wave from an object; a determination unit that determines the presence or absence of an abnormality on the basis of a predetermined reference distance and a downward distance between the signal transmission and reception unit and an object present below the signal transmission and reception unit in the vertical direction, the downward distance being calculated on the basis of a reflected wave of an ultrasonic wave traveling downward in the vertical direction from the signal transmission and reception unit among the transmission waves; and an output unit that outputs information relating to the abnormality.
