The invention provides a method and a system for controlling pull-down of an engine of a vehicle. A vehicle includes an engine, a wireless transceiver that receives attribute data, and a controller. The controller selectively shuts down the engine in response to such requests based on whether a predicted fuel savings amount associated with a predicted engine shutdown duration is greater than a predicted fuel usage amount for restarting the engine.
