The embodiment of the invention provides a method and system for passively controlling the attitude of a satellite, the method for passively controlling the attitude of the satellite is applied to a control satellite, and the method comprises the steps that the target position of the controlled satellite is acquired, and the target position is determined through the data of a plurality of positioning receivers arranged on the controlled satellite; calculating current attitude information of the controlled satellite at least according to the target position; inputting the current attitude information into a target model, and obtaining control attitude information through the target model; and providing the control attitude information for the controlled satellite. Due to the fact that only a small number of receivers (such as GPS receiving devices) used for positioning the controlled satellite need to be installed in some embodiments of the invention, algorithm implementation is achieved through software application, and the problems that hardware products are large in size and high in price and cannot be effectively applied to the nano-satellite to achieve attitude control are effectively solved.
