The invention relates to a method for determining a functional relationship between the driving resistance and the speed vveh of a motor vehicle comprising an electric machine of a torque source for driving and a storage device for electrical energy. The invention discloses a method for determining a functional relationship between the driving resistance and the speed vveh of a motor vehicle comprising an electric machine for a torque source for driving and a storage device for electrical energy, with the aim of more accurately estimating the electrical energy demand for a predetermined travel route compared to the prior art. The invention is achieved by a method in which:-the driving resistance is represented by equations having n unknown quantities and m available known quantities,-during operation of the motor vehicle, i (i > = n) equations are established at different times t, and m available known quantities are given, such that an undetermined equation set having i equations is obtained, and determining a functional relationship between the driving resistance and the speed vveh of the motor vehicle by means of an equation set.
