A method for calculating a position and/or orientation of a first object relative to a second object is provided. The method includes receiving an initial absolute position of a first object. The method includes sensing motion of a first object using a first IMU and generating sensed motion data of the first object. The method includes generating, using a controller, a motion signal representative of a motion of a first object. The method includes calculating, using the controller, a current absolute position of the first object using the motion signal and an initial absolute position of the first object. The method includes receiving, from a second object, a current absolute position of the second object calculated using a second IMU associated with the second object. The method includes calculating a relative position and/or orientation of the first object relative to the second object using the current absolute position of the first object and the current absolute position of the second object.
