Further provided is a preload inspection method capable of determining, with higher accuracy, whether the preload state is qualified or not. A wheel bearing device (1) is provided with: an outer member (2) having outer raceway surfaces (2c, 2d); an inner member (3) having inner raceway surfaces (3c, 3d); and rolling bodies (4, 5), the preload inspection method for the wheel bearing device (1) being provided with: a power calculation step (S5) in which the outer member (2) or the inner member (3) is rotated relative to each other and the power (P) is calculated; a preload value calculation step (S6) for calculating a preload value (F2) on the basis of the power (P) calculated in the power calculation step (S5); and a qualification determination step (S7) for determining qualification on the basis of whether or not the preload value (F2) calculated in the preload value calculation step (S6) is within the allowable range (R).
