The present disclosure provides "brake assist during vehicle single pedal driving". A vehicle includes a friction brake, an electronic parking brake system, and a controller. The controller issues a stagnation friction brake request for the friction brake and an electronic parking brake request for the electronic parking brake system in response to the vehicle being stopped and the vehicle being plugged in, a driver door of the vehicle being opened, or a driver seatbelt being released. The controller also interrupts the issuing of the stagnation friction brake request in response to engagement of the electronic parking brake system.
