The present disclosure relates to deployable structures, methods and apparatus for deploying deployable structures, and associated manufacturing methods. Such deployable structures suitably include components for spatial structures, such as supports for solar arrays, antennas, or other similar systems. The deployable structure includes grid elements arrangeable in a stowed configuration and a deployed configuration. The grid element (200) comprises: prestressed strips (306, Figure 3a) arranged in a clockwise helix; a pre-stressed strip (308, Figure 3a) arranged in a counter-clockwise helix; and a plurality of fasteners (310, Fig. 3a) for rotatably coupling the strips to each other at a plurality of locations distributed along the length of the strips. The plurality of fasteners are disposed at unequal pitches along the length of the strip such that the grid elements, when deployed, bend into a curvilinear deployed configuration.
