Example embodiments relate to gradually adjusting a vehicle sensor viewing angle using remote assistance. A computing device may receive an assistance request from a vehicle operating in an environment. The request indicates that the vehicle is stopped at a location where a sensor view of the environment is at least partially occluded. In response to receiving the assistance request, the computing device may display a graphical user interface (GUI) representing a current state of the vehicle and including selectable options configured to enable the vehicle to gradually move forward a predetermined distance. The computing device may detect selection of the selectable option and send instructions to enable the vehicle to gradually move forward a predetermined distance. The vehicle may then gradually move forward a predetermined distance in response to receiving the instruction while also monitoring one or more changes in the environment.
