The vehicle transverse auxiliary control method comprises the steps that a detection assembly is started, and distance data between a vehicle body and a transverse obstacle is continuously obtained; a safety threshold value and a risk threshold value are preset, wherein the risk threshold value is greater than the safety spacing threshold value; the vehicle judgment assembly compares the distance data with a safety threshold value and a risk threshold value; when the distance data is larger than the safety threshold value and smaller than the risk threshold value, a reminding signal is sent to a driver, and the vehicle is in a driver take-over state; when the distance data is smaller than the safety threshold value, the control component starts the self-adaptive function, the vehicle is controlled to move, and the vehicle body direction of the vehicle is changed; and when the updated distance data is larger than the safety threshold value, the self-adaptive function is stopped, and the vehicle recovers the driver take-over state. The vehicle transverse auxiliary control method can help a driver to control the distance between the vehicle and the side environment, and collision and friction of the vehicle body are avoided. The invention further provides a vehicle transverse auxiliary control system.
