Provision is made for control of the driving operation to be adapted by means of reference control parameters (R) when the weather conditions (W) diverge from a predefined criterion, wherein the reference control parameters (R) are generated by ascertaining driving behaviours of a plurality of vehicles (F1 to F8) adjacent to the vehicle (FEgo) in the vehicle surroundings (U) and a speed mean value, a distance mean value (dM), an acceleration mean value (aM) and a deceleration mean value (-aM) are ascertained from the ascertained driving behaviours and taken into consideration for generating the reference control parameters (R).
