The invention provides a hydraulic pneumatic suspension system for a vehicle, the system comprises a hydraulic subsystem comprising a hydraulic cylinder and a hydraulic accumulator connected with the hydraulic cylinder, the hydraulic cylinder being connected between a vehicle chassis and an axle, the hydraulic subsystem being used for lifting the axle; a pressure source, wherein an outlet of the pressure source is connected to the hydraulic subsystem through a first control valve, and an inlet of the pressure source is connected with a fluid outlet of a fluid box filled with first fluid; wherein the first control valve is connected with the fluid inlet of the fluid box through a backflow pipeline, and when the first control valve is communicated with the backflow pipeline, the first fluid flows back into the fluid box through the backflow pipeline. By sharing the fluid pump and the first fluid of a vehicle cooling system, the purpose of lifting the axle is achieved without using an air compressor, so that the vehicle space is compact and reliable, and the cost is reduced.
