The invention relates to the technical field of port equipment, in particular to a rope supporting system for a crossing type quay crane. The rope supporting system at least comprises four rope supporting frames, internal traction steel wire ropes, external traction steel wire ropes, sea side redirection pulleys and land side redirection pulleys. The corresponding two rope supporting frames are arranged on an external trolley girder track on the outer side of each quay crane girder, wherein the near ends of the two rope supporting frames are connected through the corresponding internal traction steel wire rope, and the far ends of the two rope supporting frames are connected through the corresponding external traction steel wire rope. The two rope supporting frames on the outer side of each quay crane girder move back and forth on the external trolley girder track along with the corresponding internal traction steel wire rope and the corresponding external traction steel wire rope. According to the specification, interference with the quay crane girds is avoided structurally, movement of the external trolley steel wire ropes is guaranteed, and stable operation of the crossing type quay crane is guaranteed.
