The invention provides a power control device for a hybrid vehicle with which the generation of electricity by an electric generator connected to a low-voltage battery is made possible regardless of the charging rate of the low-voltage battery. The hybrid vehicle comprises an electric motor (21) that can be linked to a drive wheels (18) of the vehicle, an electric generator (22) that can be linkedto an internal combustion engine (11), a first secondary battery (31) connected to the electric motor (21), a second secondary battery (32) connected to the electric generator (22) and lower in voltage than the first secondary battery (31), and a converter (33) that can boost DC voltage inputted from the second secondary battery (32) and output the boosted voltage to the first secondary battery (31). When the charging rate (SOC2) of the second secondary battery (32) is equal to or greater than a prescribed value, a power control device (42) causes electric power generated by the electric generator (22) to be supplied to the first secondary battery (31) via the second secondary battery (32) and the converter (33).
