The invention discloses a quadruped robot capable of freely steering and automatically avoiding obstacles based on connecting rods. The quadruped robot comprises outer side legs, inner side legs, a steering gear structure, a steering motor and a switch, the outer side legs, the inner side legs, the steering gear structures, the steering motors and the switches are combined, the walking, steering and obstacle avoiding functions of the quadruped robot are achieved through reasonable arrangement and fusion, the action of the robot is more flexible, and a wider prospect is provided for developmentof the robot.
