A tension rope pressing type rope climbing device comprises a guide wheel, a rope wheel, a pressing wheel, a power mechanism and a bottom plate and further comprises a tension rope pressing device. The tension rope pressing device comprises a lever obliquely spanning the two sides of the center of the rope wheel, a rope generates tension through the guide wheel, the tension is transmitted to the pressing wheel through the lever, and the pressing wheel compresses the rope in a rope groove under the torque of the lever. According to the tension rope pressing type rope climbing device, the tension of the rope is ingeniously utilized and transmitted to the pressing wheel through the guide wheel and the lever obliquely spanning the two sides of the center of the rope wheel, the pressure of thepressing rope can dynamically track the change of load gravity, the pressure is in a small magnitude during the light load, and therefore abrasion of the rope can be reduced; and the pressure is automatically increased during the heavy load, and the proportion of two force arms of the lever is properly set, so that enough rope pressing pressure can be obtained, and the rope climbing device is prevented from slipping. By means of the scheme, the structure of the rope climbing device is greatly simplified, and the rope climbing device has the remarkable advantage of being low in manufacturing cost.
