The invention discloses a person identification and blind area early warning detection system and detection method for a reach stacker. The detection system comprises: camera assemblies disposed at the periphery of a reach stacker and used for executing the steps: collecting 360-degree image data of the periphery of a vehicle, displaying the 360-degree image data in an independent display in a vehicle control room in real time, and eliminating a view blind area of the reach stacker; a radar assembly arranged on a rear balance weight and used for measuring the distance of obstacles behind the reach stacker and the speed of approaching the vehicle and triggering active braking according to needs. According to the invention, the cameras and millimeter-wave radar information are fused; the cameras can identify the difference between a person and a container, so that container false alarm information during operation in a narrow space can be eliminated; the millimeter-wave radar can obtainaccurate obstacle distance information which can be combined with a vehicle-mounted controller to realize distance prompting and automatic braking functions.
