The invention discloses a rail type water quality monitoring robot. The rail type water quality monitoring robot comprises an underwater rail assembly, a sensor cabin assembly, a machine body assembly, a charging communication assembly, n charging piles, n power supply devices, n locking assemblies, n first ZigBee modules and a land power supply communication assembly, wherein n is an integer larger than or equal to 2; the underwater rail assembly comprises an underwater rail and a trolley; the sensor cabin assembly comprises a water quality sensor module and a first rack; the machine body assembly comprises a power module, a first control module, a power module, a power management module and a second rack; and the charging communication assembly comprises an automatic telescopic power receiving device, a GNSS positioning module, an airborne wireless communication module and a supporting rod. The rail type water quality monitoring robot has the advantages of being low in cost, capableof achieving automatic water quality monitoring, free of manual operation, high in water quality monitoring real-time performance and high in water quality monitoring precision.
