The invention provides a brake for direct-drive hoisting equipment. An electromagnetic mechanism of the brake comprises an armature and a magnet yoke located on the outer side of the armature. The armature and the magnet yoke form a closed magnetic circuit and can move axially. A spring is arranged in the center of the armature. Two ends of the spring are connected with the armature and the magnetyoke respectively. A winding is installed in the magnet yoke and surrounds the armature. A groove is formed in the middle of the armature. The spring is arranged in the groove. One end of the springis fixedly connected with the bottom face of the groove, and the other end of the spring is connected with a spring position-following spherical shaft. A steel ball is arranged between the spring position-following spherical shaft and the magnet yoke. The spring position-following spherical shaft is a cylinder with one end being a spherical face and the other end being a plane. Two grooves are separately formed in corresponding positions of the spherical face and the bottom face of the magnet yoke. The two grooves form a cavity used for accommodating the steel ball. The steel ball is arrangedin the cavity. By means of the brake, failure and breakage accidents caused by uneven stress of the spring easily occurring in a traditional guide structure are avoided.
