The invention relates to the field of polar region icebreaking equipment, in particular to a shield type polar region icebreaking mechanism. The shield type polar region icebreaking mechanism comprises an icebreaking device body and an icebreaker body. An outer sleeve is fixedly mounted on the left side of the icebreaker body. A first icebreaking rotary drum is movably mounted on the left side ofthe interior of the icebreaking device body. A driving frame is movably mounted at the middle end of the interior of the icebreaking device body. The icebreaking device body is internally provided with a sliding cavity. The driving frame can rotate in the sliding cavity, and the outer side of the driving frame can make contact with the icebreaking rotary drum. The driving frame is arranged in a Dshape. Thus, when driving the icebreaking rotary drum to conduct icebreaking, the icebreaking device body can move left and right along the track of a driving groove through a connecting rod so as todrive the driving frame to rotate left and right intermittently. A third icebreaking rotary drum protrudes outwards through the straight side of the driving frame, then the three icebreaking rotary drums have the same protruding length, and finally, the first icebreaking rotary drum protruding outwards. The process is circulated. The effect of continuously adjusting the contact area of the shieldtype polar region icebreaking mechanism with an ice layer is achieved.
