A method for manufacturing a spline telescopic shaft according to the present invention includes a toothless portion forming step (S2) of forming a toothless portion in one of an external tooth of a shaft body (40) and an internal tooth of a tubular body, a resin layer forming step (S3) of forming a resin layer (50) by arranging one of the shaft body (40) and the tubular body in a mold including acavity and injecting a resin into the cavity, the cavity being included in a flat receiving surface that faces tooth flanks of one of the external tooth of the shaft body (40) and the internal toothof the tubular body, and a cooling step (S4) of cooling one of the shaft body (40) including the resin layer (50) and the tubular body including the resin layer (50) to form a lubricant reservoir (52)in the resin layer (50).
