A vehicle periphery monitoring device (10) is provided with an image control unit (16) and an infinite point movement unit (18). The image control unit (16) acquires first image information of a vehicle rear and second image information of vehicle rearward sides. In the image control unit (16), the first image information and the second image information are combined, with a first infinite point of the first image information and a second infinite point of the second image information substantially matching each other, thereby generating first composite image information. Upon sensing a request to change a viewpoint to the vehicle rearward sides, the infinite point movement unit (18) generates second composite image information that is viewed by moving a virtual viewpoint to the side of the vehicle. When a course change operation of an operation unit (12), used to change course, is completed, the infinite point movement unit (18) generates third composite image information that is viewed by moving the virtual viewpoint to the side to which the course is changed.
