The invention discloses a plugging device for a quay crane lifting appliance upper frame and a lifting appliance. The plugging device comprises a plug assembly and a socket assembly. The plug assemblycomprises a plug shell, a traction electromagnet, a guide column, transverse compression springs, a longitudinal tension spring, positioning steel balls, partition plates, a conical column, a suckerand contact pins. The socket assembly comprises a socket shell, partition plate sleeve holes, a guide column sleeve hole, steel ball positioning holes and jacks. During butt joint, the positioning steel balls at the top end of the guide column fall into the steel ball positioning holes formed in the bottom end of the guide column sleeve hole and are extruded and fixed through the transverse compression springs, and self-locking is achieved. During separation, the traction electromagnet is powered on, the longitudinal tension spring contracts under traction of the traction electromagnet, the conical column is driven to operate along with the longitudinal tension spring, and the positioning steel balls are separated from the steel ball positioning holes to achieve unlocking. The self-lockingand automatic unlocking structure can avoid the fault of plug loosening caused by operation vibration. The contact pins are isolated by the partition plates according to electrical classification, sothat electromagnetic interference in operation is avoided.
