The invention provides a traffic control method. The method comprises the steps of: when a first bus detection device detects that a bus passes, controlling a main street outlet vehicle detection sensor, a main street inlet vehicle detection sensor, a branch outlet vehicle detection sensor, a branch inlet vehicle detection sensor and a crossing vehicle detection sensor to detect whether there is a vehicle passing through a main street inlet and outlet, a branch inlet and outlet and a crossing respectively; according to the above detection results, correspondingly controlling a main street outlet lifting handrail, a main street inlet lifting handrail, a branch outlet lifting handrail and a branch inlet lifting handrail to rise and fall; and when a second bus detection device detects that the bus has passed the crossing, rising the main street outlet lifting handrail, the main street inlet lifting handrail, the branch outlet lifting handrail and the branch inlet lifting handrail. By adopting the method, the smooth passing of the buses is facilitated.
