The invention belongs to the technical field of urban viaduct information acquisition and processing, and particularly relates to a viaduct sudden event discrimination method based on a microwave vehicle detector. The method comprises the following steps that the microwave vehicle detector is installed and debugged; the data of the microwave vehicle detector are obtained; equivalent traffic volume QLj of a single lane is calculated; average density KLj of the single lane is calculated; average density KLj of the single lane is calculated; average driving speed V<-> of a viaduct road segment is calculated; road segment average driving speed Vtp of the tth sampling cycle is predicted; road segment average driving speed standard deviation S of the past four sampling cycles is calculated; a specific value Q of difference of the prediction value and an actual value of road segment average driving speed of the tth sampling cycle to standard deviation is obtained; and traffic sudden event discrimination is performed. Data acquisition responsiveness is faster, the measurement and calculation process is more concise and convenient, the accurate effect of the online measurement and calculation result is higher, viaduct sudden events can be timely and effectively processed and traffic congestion can be greatly reduced.
