The invention provides a method and device for tour inspection on a road and is used for overcoming at least one of the defects in the aspects of maintainability design of a supply network and monitoring and controlling of a road in the prior art. The method for tour inspection on the road includes the steps that a channel for tour inspection is arranged in a road surface area and/or a road shoulder area; a work vehicle capable of autonomously moving is placed in the channel for tour inspection; and a supply network detection unit in the work vehicle is used to detect a supply network along the road, and/or a traffic monitoring unit in the work vehicle is used to monitor and control traffic of the road. By means of the method and device, the supply network along the road is inspected or the road traffic monitoring and controlling is performed under the condition that the traffic on the road is not interrupted; the maintaining efficiency or monitoring and controlling efficiency can be improved; and the practicability is achieved.
