The invention provides a control method for the signal timing design, the traffic signal lamp bank of reversible lanes and the lane signs of reversible lanes at the intersection of reversible lanes with/without the arrangement of a left-turn short lane. In consideration of the influence of a left-turn short lane on the saturation flow rate of an entrance lane, the phase effective green light time and the functions of reversible lanes are adopted as decision variables, and the minimization of the vehicle delay rate at the intersection and the maximization of the traffic capability at the intersection are adopted as objective functions. In this way, a signal timing optimized model system at the intersection is established based on the operational research and the traffic flow theory. Meanwhile, a specific design principle for designing the lane signs of reversible lanes is provided from the point of drivers. According to the traffic flow operating rule and the behavior characteristics of drivers, different coordination control rules for the traffic signal lamp bank of reversible lanes and the lane signs of reversible lanes are designed respectively for two conditions, namely the function invariable condition of reversible lanes and the function variable condition of reversible lanes during the control period switching process. The embodiments of the invention prove the feasibility and the validity of the above method. By adopting the above method, the intersection congestion problem caused by the tidal characteristics of the traffic flow can be effectively alleviated.
