The invention discloses a dual-purpose electric bicycle for keeping balance during riding. The electric bicycle comprises a case body, wherein the front part of the case body is hinged to the rear end of a front beam; the front end of the front beam is hinged to a front rotating seat; the front beam can be longitudinally folded relative to the case body and the front rotating seat; the front end of the front rotating seat is connected with a front upright pipe through a front rotating shaft; a front upright shaft is mounted in the front upright pipe; the upper end of the front upright shaft is connected with a handlebar; the lower end of the front upright shaft is hinged to front forks; a battery is mounted in the case body or a folding plate. The electric bicycle can meet the demands of users for long-distance riding and short-distance driving in a standing manner. Through the adoption of the structure of the electric bicycle, the automatic locking and unlocking of the direction of a front wheel can be realized, and the operation of state switching is convenient; when stored or carried, the electric bicycle occupies a small space.
