The invention provides a novel elevator counterweight system for mounting a counterweight device through circular guide rails. The novel elevator counterweight system comprises a floating type counterweight device, the circular guide rails and circular arc groove single-wheel roller guide shoes. The floating type counterweight device is connected with the circular guide rails through the circular arc groove single-wheel roller guide shoes. The circular guide rails comprise core materials and wear-resisting layers. The wear-resisting layers are evenly coated on the surfaces of the core materials. The circular arc groove single-wheel roller guide shoes comprise guide shoe mounting frames, compression spring assemblies, guide shoe roller frames, rolling bearings and rollers. The compression spring assemblies are connected with the guide shoe mounting frames. The compression spring assemblies partially extend to the positions outside the guide shoe mounting frames. The guide shoe roller frames are connected with the ends, extending to the positions outside the guide shoe mounting frames, of the compression spring assemblies. The rolling bearings are arranged in the guide shoe roller frames to be connected with the guide shoe roller frames. The rollers are connected with the rolling bearings in a sleeving mode. The guide shoe mounting frames are connected with the floating type counterweight device. The rollers are connected with the circular guide rails. The novel elevator counterweight system has the advantages of being simple in structure, low in cost, small in vibration and noise and long in service life.
