The invention relates to an electric ascending and descending mast, which is characterized by comprising a motor (1), wherein a speed reducer (2) is connected onto the motor (1), and is connected with a chain wheel (3); a telescopic guide post (5) is arranged above the chain wheel (3); a chain (4) is wound on the chain wheel (3); one end of the chain (4) is abutted against the bottom of the telescopic guide post (5); and the chain (4) changes from the horizontal transmission to the vertically upward transmission after being driven by the chain wheel (3), so that the telescopic guide post (5) is upwards jacked. The electric ascending and descending mast has the advantages that the ascending and descending speed is adjustable; the bearing force is great; the size is small; the ascending and descending height is precise; downward sliding cannot occur; and the applicability is high.
