The present invention belongs to the technical field of energy conservation of elevators and particularly relates to a basket carrier type counterweight elevator car and a counterweight self-balancing energy-saving apparatus. A basket carrier type counterweight consists of a son counterweight and a basket carrier counterweight frame, wherein a basket carrier is mounted on the counterweight frame; the counterweight applied to dynamic balance is called the son counterweight; the counterweight not applied to the dynamic balance in the counterweight frame is called a mother counterweight; and the son counterweight and the mother counterweight are placed inside the basket carrier. The present invention aims to reduce the weight of the car side and the weight of the counterweight side of an elevator before running up and down with idle load or light load, and the reduced weight of the counterweight side is larger than that of the car side, so that the two sides are substantially the same in weight. Therefore, the rotation inertia output by a driving motor is reduced, thereby achieving the purpose of saving energy of the evaluator.
