The invention discloses a tower crane and a trolley amplitude detection system thereof. The trolley amplitude detection system of the tower crane comprises a first proximity switch and a second proximity switch which are arranged on an amplitude-variable guide wheel of a root of a boom, a certain phase angle is formed between the first proximity switch and the second proximity switch, and a controller is connected with the first proximity switch and the second proximity switch; the first proximity switch and the second proximity switch respectively generate a first impulse sequence and second impulse sequence formed by counting information during a trolley operation process, the controller count the range valve of trolley based on the first impulse sequence and the second impulse sequence. Without manual setting, the range valve of the trolley can be accurately obtained with a relatively low cost.
