An X-ray detector, multiple sensors and an infrared camera are matched and adopted in the self-adaptive pipeline exploration robot for detecting a pipeline. Caterpillar band walking feet are adopted, and compared with other moving modes, the robot can cross more obstacles. The two caterpillar band walking feet are driven by an independent stepping motor, a transmission mechanism is simplified, the speed of the two caterpillar band walking feet can be changed so that the robot can be steered and the balance of the robot can be adjusted. An adjustment mechanism is adopted for adjusting the included angle of the caterpillar band walking feet, so that the robot walks with the caterpillar band walking feet attached to the pipeline, and the overall height and the overall width of the robot are adjustable. Double batteries are adopted for supplying power, so that power supply reliability is guaranteed.
