The invention relates to a steering column (1) for a motor vehicle, comprising: a steering spindle (2) which is mounted, so as to be rotatable about its axis (3), in a steering spindle bearing unit; a mounting part (7) which is designed for connecting the steering spindle bearing unit directly or indirectly to the body of the motor vehicle, wherein at least one of the components of the steering column is formed at least partially from a material comprising reinforcement fibres (191), wherein the reinforcement fibres are arranged along paths on a wall surface and are fixed to the wall surface by means of multiple retaining fibres (20, 21) which run at an angle greater than 0 DEG with respect to the paths of the reinforcement fibres and which surround the reinforcement fibres.
