A vehicle travel control device 1 is connected to a remote control device 70 that controls the travel of the vehicle through communication over a network, the vehicle travel control device 1 being equipped with an absolute position calculation unit 102a that acquires, through a GNSS receiver 211 onboard a vehicle C, GNSS information required for standalone positioning and calculates an absolute position of the vehicle by standalone positioning, a reception determination unit 102d that determines whether GNSS correction information required for relative positioning can be received from an external reference station, a relative position calculation unit 102b that calculates a relative position of the vehicle by relative positioning, and a communication unit 701 that transmits information on the current position of the vehicle to the remote control device, wherein the communication unit transmits position information based on the relative position in the case where the GNSS correction information can be received and transmits position information based on the absolute position in the case where the GNSS correction information cannot be received.
