A special hexapod robot with vertical wall climbing ability, which can adapt to both smooth and rough wall surfaces. This robot has excellent steering ability. When detecting obstacles, it can make its own judgment, turning and bypassing. The main design ideas and structural innovations as follows: All six feet are equipped with suction cups and randomly distributed spikes which are designed for maintaining stability on various wall surfaces with different roughness; we adopted unique electromagnet adsorption method to control the movement of spikes; the segmented design of the body plays a vital cushioning role while also ensuring the robot's flexibility; the excellent speed control system combined with the common tripod gait makes the turning of the hexapod robot fast and easy; with a vision sensor, this robot can estimate the roughness of the wall at any time and make telescopic changes to the spikes on the feet. At last, there is no doubt that this hexapod robot can be equipped with some special detectors to achieve some difficult tasks.
