Objective is to identify characteristics of ideal transportation system as conceived by consumer; results are based on sample survey (550 individual interviews) in Baltimore metropolitan area and selected adjacent rural areas; study is based on individual consumer attitudes and motivation rather than on consumer travel performance (basis of outside diameter and other travel mode analyses); it also measures relative importance of influencing modal choice in scalar terms.
