Tests of stresses in vehicle springs affected by speed are extended to roads of more normal surface roughness and to other vehicle components; single vehicle was driven over eight straight stretches of public road at four speeds, and stresses in springs and dampers were measured by resistance strain gages; overall patterns of behavior are derived using as parameters only root mean square stress fluctuation and number of crossings of mean stress level; speed effect is shown to be of same order as difference in stress attributable to range of roads used.
