Concept of employing aerodynamic lift demonstrates that range of alowable entry angles for prescribed peak deceleration is greatly increased, while total heat energy transferred to vehicle can be held to about same value as for nonlifting vehicle; for entry from orbital velocity, analytical expressions are obtained for peak G in case of constant lift-drag ratio; thus, guidance and control problem is greatly alleviated.
