Fuel behavior in carburetor bowl during short soak is adequately simulated by one plate equilibrium distillation; factors influencing carburetor hot soak losses are maximum bowl temperature, bowl volume, and liquid temperature curve from one plate equilibrium distillation; fuel tank losses occur because of tank temperature increases which cause increase in vapor pressure and thermal expansion of tank vapor; factors of tank losses are tank temperature and pressure, vapor volume, rate of vapor and liquid equilibrium, vapor pressure, molecular weight, and density.
