Impressed current cathodic protection takes its electric current from conventional source, ship's power supply for example, and uses it to protect hull; current is fed into seawater through electrodes (anodes) and flows through water to form voltage potential and protects hull from corrosion; because of frequent variations and slow speed of response of impressed current system it has been found prudent to automatically control cathodic protection; these aspects, advantages, etc, are discussed.
