Practical flexible pavement design method, based on Soil Mechanics principles and strength properties of components of pavement structure and subgrade is presented; granular pavement thickness is determined over purely cohesive subgrade to carry given static vehicle or aircraft loading; results of analysis are presented in graphical form (design charts) together with examples of designs for various loading conditions.
