Wet skid resistance of rubber compounds used for tire treads was evaluated by road testing on wet asphalt, and by laboratory testing using British portable skid tester; laboratory results were substituted in feet-to-stop equation; traction tests were run on wet asphalt road also to determine correlation between wet traction and wet skid resistance; largest difference between actual and predicted wet skid valves was 8 ft, and average difference was 4 ft; actual feet-to-stop is effective for predicting drawbar pounds for 200 and 400% wheel slip.
