Application of rotary wing to atmospheric re-entry of space vehicles; experiments made at Giravions Dorand, Paris, with rotochutes satisfying 3 requirements -- acceleration level comparable to that of transport aircraft; i.e., well below lg; landing at predetermined point, on unprepared ground, without need for auxiliary landing equipment; and stability and control over vehicle's attitude during all phases of flight; limiting temperatures. Presented at European Symposium on Space Technology, London, 1961.
