It is, in principle, possible to reduce inertia forces and moments of two engines which are not fixed to each other partially or wholly to zero; to achieve this result, crankshafts during rotation must always make "mutual" or relative ankle which is determined beforehand; example of hull vibration trouble in Dutch cargo motor ship; trouble remedied by installation of specially designed synchronizing gear.
