Results of field survey of CLR camshaft and Valve Tappet Wear Group; data submitted by 30 laboratories on 295 cars having variety of camshaft and tappet metallurgy design combinations and operated on four different test oils, show that oil composition, metallurgy and design have independent and related effects in controlling degree of wear, scuffing, and spalling.
