Investigation suggests that occurrence is likely to be associated with formation and ignition of lubricating oil mist in contact with overheated engine part; alternatively, still based on overheated part, that mechanical oil spray is present in crankcase in explosive concentration; approach to development of warning system, and to explosion relief.
