First ships in Canada in which all connections were arc welded; built by Horton Steel Works, Fort Erie, Ont; tow barge Bruce Hudson has length 165 ft, breadth 30 ft, depth 11 ft 3 in.; twin-screw tanker Transiter has length 180 ft, breadth 34 ft, depth molded 15 ft 6 in.; propelled by two sets of 330-hp Atlas Polar Diesel engines.
